ECON 2740 - Economic Statistics F,W (3-1) [0.50]

A course designed to prepare students conceptually and mathematically for ECON*3560, Theory of Finance and ECON*3740, Introduction to Econometrics. Topics include the summation operator, descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, probability and statistical independence, the binomial distribution, algebra of the expectation operator, discrete bivariate distributions, covariance, variance of a linear function of random variables, the normal and t distributions, sampling distributions, point and interval estimation, hypothesis testing and an introduction to ordinary least squares. Additional topics may be included at the instructor's discretion. Examples and assignment questions are drawn from economics and finance.

This is quite possibly the worst econ course I've ever taken. It was boring, dry and my prof didn't speak English very well. If you can take a stats course instead of it like STAT 2060 instead, then do it. This course was such a peice of crap. Literally more than half the class ended up dropping it after the midterm when I took it. The class average was brutal.
The content itself isn't really that hard to be honest. Just be prepared to learn it on your own.

Wasnt that bad, midterms were really bell curved!
No calculators, which makes it way easier
cheat sheets on all exams plus online weekly assignments. If you put minimal effort, you will get a 70

This is course is horrible, avoid it if you can. The only good thing about this course is that the online assignements can be done as many times as possible.
