Comment :
I recommend this that this course is taken only if required. The course is interesting as there are field labs. There is a lot of writing (reports and lab notebook). Though your writing will improve, it is difficult to get an A (80%). There is no final exam, but a big research proposal to hand in right before exams.

This course is entirely paper-based, so be prepared to write a lot. The grades are not usually high but your writing will definitely improve. Even if you think you can write a lab report really well the first assignment will have a low grade and show you where improvement is needed. This course is a large help if you intend to take any other course that requires a formal lab report...basically any upper-year BIOL, PBIO, or ZOO course. PLUS...lots of field work! We got to do a lab in Speed River and go for multiple hikes on Starkley's Loop. The only downside is that it's not necessary to attend lectures, so it can be hard to force yourself to go.
