Take the 6-week summer course after 1st year if your still in town! It allows your following fall and winter semesters so much more flexibility and it is so much nicer be able to put all your focus on the course, making it easier to get a better mark. Plus you are done by the end of June and still have a summer! Prof was great, lab prof (Kaur) was also great. Labs were a bit tedious but the reports are done before you leave so no homework! Loved the content of the lectures all very relevant and interesting info. Didn't use the text book much (but maybe i should have? dont know really...)

This was a great course, however there is a fair bit of memorization! Get to know the amino acids from the very beginning. There is a quiz in the second week on them. The labs were simple to complete, however the write ups can take some time which poses difficult because you have to finish them in your lab section. The midterm and exam were fair, make sure to do the practice ones the profs put up, there were quite a bit of questions that were very similar on the actual tests.

Good prof for the first half very interesting very easy to understand FANTASTIC lecture notes. The second half prof didn't measure up but wasn't the worst prof I've had. Midterm and quiz was fair. Labs are easy to understand and the TA's were great.

The beginning half of the course is amazing. The prof was very easy to listen to, he made lectures interesting and his corresponding course notes were very helpful. The lab section was the worst part but very doable. The quiz is easy, the midterm was very fair and the final was also not too bad. The second prof was hard to follow, disorganized in comparison with the first half and overall not as well done as the first half.

First half was great - basic learning about proteins, focusing on their modifications. Coppolino was an amazing teacher - highly recommended. Second half was a bore - had to learn all the regulators of almost all metabolic cycles. Quite boring, and dry material. Tests are very fair for both.

This course is awesome! Both profs are great and very approachable if your having problems. The material does get into higher levels of complexity, but there are lots of resources available given by the profs and both the midterm and finals were very fairly written

Definitely nowhere near as scary as I thought it would be. The first half was pretty east - just make SURE you know your amino acids.. get started on that right away i.e. first week of the course! I actually quite enjoyed the labs. They were a LOT easier and laid back than first year chem labs. And the write ups are easy. The course itself isn't the most interesting stuff, but it is pretty easy to get a decent mark as long as you prepare yourself for evaluations. Good luck!

Difficulty of second half > difficulty of first half. Lecture quality of first half >> lecture quality of second half. Notes are amazing for both halves. Labs are easy, both profs are wonderfully helpful. Study hard, and you'll do fine. Very enjoyable!

Labs were easier than first year chemistry. First half of the course was easy, second half contained a lot of information about metabolism, but it wasn't as hard to memorize as it looks.

I enjoyed it. Liked the second half much better. Don't be afraid of this one. It's much easier than first year chemistry.

I enjoyed the course. The two profs I had did a good job lecturing. You gotta make sure you start learning your amino acids right away, even if it's just skimming over them every day. It'll make your life a lot easier. DO the old midterms that the prof puts up. The labs are simple enough, it's just the writeups that are a pain. Learn your pathways for the final (beta oxidation, glycolysis, krebs) guaranteed to be on, usually a 'label this diagram with intermediate name, enzyme, cofactors' sort of question.

Good course material pretty informative and interesting. I learned alot. The labs are ok i guess, but the write ups can be pretty long even for simple experiments

I enjoyed this course. It had ties to first year chemistry without drawing to heavily on it. The quizes, midterms and final were easy to do well on so long as you put in some effort throughout the course. The labs were unique and enhanced course learning but often had challenging writeups.
